Not hearing any Sounds

If you are not hearing any sounds from OrderFly, here are some steps to follow to identify and correct the issue.

Connected to data feed?

OrderFly is a real-time only tool, and does not run on historical data. Please confirm that you are connected to your data feed.

You can make a quick visual check by looking for the green ball indicator on the Ninjatrader Control Panel.

If you see the green ball indicator, then your platform is connected to your data feed.

Data Feed supplying data?

Please check that your data feed is supplying data to your platform. You can do this by opening a chart (any timeframe), and then add the VOL (volume) indicator to it. Next observe that both price and volume are changing in real time. If they are, then your data feed is supplying data to your platform.

Symbol with only Price or Volume data?

OrderFly requires both price and volume data to run correctly. If you have selected a symbol (eg. VIX or TICK) that does not include both price and volume data, then you will not hear sounds from OrderFly. If this is the case, please select a symbol that includes both price and volume.

No Sounds – Market / Settings mismatch?

If your data feed is connected and supplying data to your platform, and you are running OrderFly on a symbol that has both Price and Volume data associated with it, and you are still not hearing any sounds after a period of time, then your OrderFly settings may not match the current conditions of your market. Your market may be thinly traded, in an overnight, or slow session, or more volatile. Check out the next headings to address your issue.

No Sounds – Futures

Your OrderFly settings may not match the current conditions of your market. In this event, try selecting the “UltraThinMarket” setting in the “Volume Trigger preset” field.

Right mouse click in your chart window, and a context menu will appear. Select the “Indicators…” menu item.

Next, in the popup window that appears, highlight the OrderFly indicator, and look for the “OrderFly Settings” in the right panel. Select the “UltraThinMarket” value in the “Volume Trigger preset” field, as shown.

Click the OK button, and listen to OrderFly for a period of time. Do you hear sounds ?

No Sounds – Cryptocurrencies or Forex

Your OrderFly settings may not match your market. Cryptocurrencies & Forex markets can have tick sizes that are defined in decimals. If you are utilizing OrderFly on one of these symbols, then try using the “OrderFly Settings – Advanced” fields to define Relevant and Absorption volumes using decimal values.

Right mouse click in your chart window, and a context menu will appear. Select the “Indicators…” menu item.

Next, in the popup window that appears, highlight the OrderFly indicator, and look for the “OrderFly Settings – Advanced” in the right panel. Check the “Use Advanced Settings Instead of Presets” checkbox, and then set values in decimals for “Relevant Volume to Start price movements” and “Absorption Volume to Stop price movements”. Try .001 and .01 respectively.

Click the OK button, and listen to OrderFly for a period of time. Do you hear sounds ? If not, try lower values for the two fields. Try .0001 and .001 respectively.
